Columbia Gas of Kentucky presents NiSource Charitable Foundation grants to three local organizations

Nov 29, 2018

Columbia Gas of Kentucky today brightened the holidays for three local community service organizations and the clients they serve with grants from the NiSource Charitable Foundation. Grants of $5,000 each were presented to Greenhouse 17, Salvation Army and Children’s Advocacy Center.

Greenhouse 17 is a vital resource for victims of intimate partner abuse in Central Kentucky. The NiSource Charitable Foundation provided financial support in 2007 when the organization moved to its current location. Since that time, Greenhouse 17 has expanded its service offerings for its clients in 17 counties. It is now planning facility improvements to increase security and improve the use of shared spaces at the facility.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is synonymous with the organization’s efforts to serve the poor in communities across the United States. Locally, this donation continues a tradition of support by Columbia Gas and the NiSource Charitable Foundation for this organization that provides food, shelter, clothing, job training, after-school care, and more to struggling families.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass provides direct services to children in Central Kentucky that have been victims of sexual abuse. This donation will be utilized by the organization’s medical clinic, which provides comprehensive medical exams at no cost to families that need them.

“We’re honored to support to these organizations that do so much to help families in crisis in our community,” said Herbert A. Miller, Jr., president and chief operating officer of Columbia Gas of Kentucky.
