Property Owner Agreements
A Property Owner Agreement (POA) is an agreement between the property owner and us to maintain continuous natural gas service at a rental property in the event that a tenant would request a disconnect of service.
How to add a POA
To submit a POA, simply print and complete this form and mail it to: NiSource, P.O. Box 2318, Columbus, OH 43216-2318. This form can also be faxed to 614-460-6203. Typically, it takes up to 30 days to process a POA.
How to update a POA
A landlord or authorized agent may update a POA with the following information:
- Mailing address and contact phone numbers
- Name(s) of authorized person(s)
- Change name due to marriage, divorce, death of spouse, establishment of estate
- Add or delete a service location on an existing POA
How to cancel a POA
To cancel a POA, the property owner or agent must submit the request in writing in advance of the requested effective date. The landlord or agent needs to call and schedule disconnects and provide access agreements if needed on any active gas service locations that remain in their name.

A cancellation request should include the following information:
- Property owner name
- Property owner agreement number
- A brief description of the reason to cancel the POA
- Advance requested effective date
Get bill alerts
As a landlord, you can sign up for bill alerts for your rental property. You’ll be notified when their account is in danger of being shut off for non-payment. Signing up for this service requires authorization from both parties.
