Columbia Gas of Kentucky announced today that it will contribute $10,000 to the American Red Cross Bluegrass Chapter to support flood relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky. The donation is designated by the NiSource Charitable Foundation, which is supported by NiSource, Inc., the parent company of Columbia Gas.
The donation is intended to support the delivery of care and comfort to communities in need as a result of massive flooding. The Red Cross is providing shelter, supplies and other emergency aid across the impacted region.
“This donation is aligned with our foundational commitment to safety,” said Columbia Gas President and COO Kimra Cole. “We are committed to the safety of our customers, especially at a time of heightened need such as this. We know the Red Cross can efficiently get these dollars into the hands of those who are providing essential care to our communities.”
Columbia Gas crews are currently working in the area to ensure the safety of customers impacted by natural gas outages. Due to the extent of the infrastructure damage, there is currently no timeline for restoration.
“Our employees who live and work in the area have seen and experienced firsthand the destruction of beloved communities in the region,” said Cole. “Our hearts are with the families impacted by this disaster.”
