Columbia
scholarships help minority students
become teachers
It takes a special person to become a great educator. Unfortunately
in Kentucky, far too few minorities – and there are many with
the special talent and dedication to be great educators –
are able to realize their dream of becoming a teacher. But
Columbia Gas of Kentucky and area colleges and universities
are working to change that.
Through minority education schoarships at the University of
Kentucky, Georgetown College and Kentucky State University,
talented minority students are able to achieve their academic
goals. One of those recipients is Josh Williams, shown
at right with former Columbia Gas of Kentucky President Joe
Kelly and Georgetown College President Bill Crouch. Williams,
a native of Red Fox, Kentucky, is working toward certification
in both elementary and secondary education and spent time
during the summer months working with children struggling
with dyslexia.
